The tour begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. You'll then travel by private bus to the tranquil town of Calca, where the biking portion of the tour begins. From there, you'll ascend to the highest point of the ride, the Abra de Lares mountain pass at 4,470 meters above sea level. The isolated highlands covered with Andean grass and snow-capped mountains provide a refreshing and unique experience. As you make your way down, you'll pass through a canyon, see alpacas, vicunas, and llamas, and witness small villages, farms, and livestock. You'll also visit the "chulpas," pre-Inca ruins that are visible evidence of the importance of this region.
After exploring the ruins, you'll enjoy a typical Peruvian lunch and take a break. Then, continue your bike ride to the natural hot springs of Machacancha, where you can relax and soak your muscles in the warm water. Afterward, you'll ride back for an hour to Calca, where the private bus will take you back to Cusco.
