Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day

DAY 1: Iquitos – Amazon River

We begin our adventure with a transfer from the airport or your hotel in Iquitos to our agency, and from there to the dock to start our boat journey along the Nanay River, navigating toward the majestic Amazon River, the largest river in the world by volume.

Along the way, we will witness the confluence of the Nanay, Itaya, and Amazon Rivers. Our first stop will take us to the Kukama or Yagua indigenous community, where you can immerse yourself in their culture through traditional songs, dances, and handicrafts. We then continue to Fundo Pedrito, a breeding center for Amazonian wildlife where we will feed paiches, piranhas, and caimans, and observe the impressive Victoria Regia plant.

At midday, we will arrive at Avatar Amazon Lodge & Canopy Park, where we will enjoy a typical lunch and settle into our cabins. In the afternoon, we will visit a wildlife reserve in its natural habitat, where you will have the opportunity to interact with monkeys and observe macaws, sloths, anacondas, and more.

After a delicious dinner, we will venture into the jungle on a night excursion to discover wildlife under the moonlight, listening to the mysterious sounds of the rainforest and spotting tarantulas, cicadas, scorpions, and praying mantises.

After returning to the lodge and enjoying breakfast, we will head to Avatar Canopy Park, an adventure park with platforms 35 meters high, zip lines, hanging bridges, and more—ideal for adrenaline seekers (maximum allowed weight: 100 kg).

After this exciting experience, we will relax in the lodge’s pool before enjoying a typical lunch. In the afternoon, we will experience piranha fishing using traditional techniques and, for the more adventurous, take a swim in the warm waters of the Amazon River. During the dry season, we can also enjoy a natural mud treatment on the islands formed in the river.

Before dinner, we will take a boat ride to observe the enigmatic pink and gray dolphins, central figures in many Amazonian legends. We will end the day with a delicious dinner and an Amazonian mythology session, where our guides will share local stories and legends.
