This three day tour with meals and bungalow lodging included will introduce you to the colorful diversity and life of the Peruvian Amazon, as we familiarize ourself with the sights and sounds of the wild plant and animal life along jungle paths, rivers, a lagoon, island, and fluttering parrot clay lick.
Arriving to Puerto Maldonado
The most common methods of arriving to Puerto Maldonado is to take a 1hr flight from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado (Cusco itself being a 1hr flight from Lima) or a 12hr bus from Cusco. (Intrepid adventurers can approach the port by water along the Tambopata or Madre de Dios Rivers, but this will take several days and is not for the faint of heart.)
Preparation for the Amazon
You will be asked to go through a Yellow Fever Vaccination Checkpoint in the Puerto Maldonado Airport and present your Yellow Fever Vaccination Card. It is not listed as an official requirement for entry, but local officials commonly check regardless and in order to have an enjoyable and safe trip you should consider it a must, along with a regimen of malaria pills.
