07:30am
You'll be picked up at your hotel or hostel in Nazca at 7:30am and we'll head for the Maria Reiche Aerodrome. Departure sites and times are flexible, so other pickup sites such as the Bus Terminal or Airport can be arranged.
08:00am
Upon our arrival at the Aerodrome we'll watch a short video introduction to the Nazca civilization before boarding our light aircraft. The flight itself lasts a little more than half an hour. During the flight you'll see large-scale geometrical designs as well as pictorial representations of plants, humans, and animals including the monkey, spider, lizards, dogs, hummingbirds, and condor. These figures cover an area of 350km and range from 15 to 300 meters.
The purpose and construction of the Nazca Lines has been an enduring mystery; although they cover miles of the desert floor their size only allows them to be viewed by flying over them.
Theories suggest that they were created to please the gods or as ceremonial pathways, or as the world's largest astronomical calendar for the planting and harvesting of crops. The main theory is presently a combination of these: a calendar to remind the gods of the agricultural calendar, the need for rain, etc. However, the site continues to inspire debate.
11:00am
After our flight you will be dropped back off at your hotel or hostel in Nazca.
