You'll be picked up at your hotel in Nazca at the agreed-upon hour; for a morning tour that will be around 7:00am, for an afternoon tour that will be around 1:00pm. We'll then depart in our dune buggy (4WD) for an rousing off-roading adventure along the left bank of the Nazca Valley.
Our first stop will be Cahuachi Ceremonial Center, a large adobe city which once formed the religious center of the great Nazca civilization, who rose to prominence in this area, leaving their famous marks upon the desert floor before disappearing into mystery. Together with our guide we'll explore the history and significance of the ceremonial plazas and temple pyramids to gain insight into this mystical civilization.
Afterwards we'll continue our journey, passing the farming village of Tambo de Perro in the Cahuachi Valley as we make our way to the Usaca Valley.
Our destination is the union of the Nazca and Pajonal Rivers, Usaca Oasis, where we'll take advantage of the impressive surrounding sand dunes to enjoy some adrenaline-filled sandboarding. After the uphill journey we'll abandon the buggy, get some instructions on this unique sport, and then descend via sandboard, hitting the slopes for a couple of thrilling fun-filled hours.
During our return to Nazca we'll make a stop in Estaqueria, ‘Place of the Stakes', a 2000 year old site thought to have been used to dry the bodies which would become the famously well-preserved mummies recovered from sites like Cahuachi.
The trip has a duration of 5 hours, so we should reach Nazca and drop you off at your hotel at around noon or 6:00pm, depending on whether you are participating in a morning or afternoon excursion.
