Detailed Itinerary: Day by Day
DAY 1:
Cusco - Llactapata - Patallacta - Huayllabamba
Very early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco for a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley to Km 82 (Piscacucho), the official starting checkpoint of the legendary Classic Inca Trail. After meeting our team of professional porters and passing the official control, we will lace up our boots and begin a gentle, enjoyable 5 to 6-hour hike through the breathtaking Andean valley.
Along the way, we will follow the rushing Urubamba River and visit the impressive archaeological complex of Llactapata (also known as Patallacta), where your expert guide will share the fascinating history of this ancient Inca agricultural and residential center. After a well-deserved, freshly prepared hot lunch and a short rest, we will continue our ascent through peaceful landscapes, observing native flora and typical Andean wildlife.
Our day concludes as we arrive at the traditional community of Huayllabamba (2,740 meters / 8,990 feet), our first official campsite. Here, surrounded by the magical mountain peaks and the serene energy of Pachamama, you will enjoy a comforting gourmet dinner before settling in for a restful night under the starry Andean sky.

On the second day, we wake up early to enjoy a hearty, fortifying breakfast before tackling the most challenging—yet absolutely rewarding—section of the legendary Inca Trail. Our steady ascent leads us through the changing cloud forest of Llulluchapampa up to the famous Warmiwañusca Pass (Dead Woman's Pass), standing proudly as the highest point of the trek at 4,200 meters (13,780 feet) above sea level. Reaching this summit is a monumental achievement, and you will be immediately rewarded with awe-inspiring, 360-degree panoramic views of the rugged mountain ranges and deep valleys below. From the pass, we begin our descent along pristine, hand-laid Inca stone steps that showcase the remarkable engineering of the empire, surrounded by unique high-altitude flora and fauna. After a total hike of approximately 6 to 7 hours, we will arrive at our second campsite in the Pacaymayu Valley (3,600 meters / 11,811 feet). Here, in the heart of the mountains, a well-deserved, freshly prepared hot lunch will be waiting for us. DAY 3:
Pacaymayu - Puyupatamarca - Wiñay Wayna
Following a delicious and energizing breakfast at 06:00 a.m., we begin what many consider the most spectacular and beautiful day of the entire Classic Inca Trail. Leaving the Pacaymayu Valley, we steadily ascend to the circular, stone-walled ruins of Runkurakay, an ancient tambo (inn) that served as a strategic rest stop for Inca couriers. After crossing the Runkurakay Pass at 3,924 meters (12,874 feet)—which rewards us with breathtaking, panoramic views of the towering Veronika and Salkantay snow-capped peaks—we descend along spectacular stone paths toward Sayacmarca ("Dominant Town"), an impressive citadel perched dramatically atop a cliff.
From this point, the trail completely transforms as we enter the lush, subtropical cloud forest, entering a part of the Amazon basin teeming with rare wildlife, ancient mosses, and dozens of species of exotic orchids. As we continue our 6 to 7-hour hike, you will marvel at centuries-old engineering masterpieces, including walking through an authentic Inca tunnel hand-carved directly into the mountain rock. Our journey then leads us to the ridge of Phuyupatamarca ("Town in the Clouds") to explore its fascinating ritual water baths and agricultural terraces. Finally, passing by the massive terraced complex of Intipata, we descend to Wiñay Wayna ("Forever Young"), the most stunning and complete archaeological site on the route, boasting a spectacular hillside setting. Here, at our final prepared campsite, you will witness a magical Andean sunset over the high jungle and gather with your team for a special farewell dinner cooked by our chef, followed by a deeply restorative night’s rest before your triumphant entry into Machu Picchu tomorrow.

After capturing this iconic panoramic photograph, we will descend to the archaeological complex to begin an immersive, 2-hour guided tour through the official circuit. If you're lucky enough to visit the land of the Incas in June, you'll instantly realize that Cusco brings more to the table than just music, traditional dances, and colorful parades. There’s something else in the air—a rich, savory, and roasted aroma wafting from the main plazas, drawing both locals and travelers to lively, makeshift dining tables.
After four years and US$1.5 million, the restoration of the Church of San Pedro in the remote Andean village of Andahuaylillas, a priceless colonial art treasure showcasing the "Andean Baroque", has been completed. With the backing of the World Monuments Fund and regional and national authorities, restorers tackled the ill effects of earthquakes, shoddy restorations, centuries of grime and even bat droppings.
